Sebetwane and his group, the Kololo, moved via Botswana for 14 years, raiding cattle from the Ngwato and Khoi-khoi pastoralists. However, most of their cattle died of starvation or were captured by the San hunters.
In about 1840, the Kololo crossed the Zambezi River where they conquered the Tonga and Lozi people. Sebetwane then settled and established his capital at Bulozi, where he built up a very powerful kingdom based upon cattle herding and agriculture on the upper Zambezi floodplain.
The journey from Transorangia to Bulozi was long and arduous, taking 14 years to complete. The Kololo faced many challenges along the way, including raids by other groups and difficulties in finding food and water for their cattle. However, they were ultimately successful in establishing a powerful kingdom in Bulozi based on cattle herding and agriculture.
